BOB MARLEY July 18 1975 London Dennis Morris signed Photo on LP Live! edition of 40. Rare!

$775.00

For your consideration a Foto which appeared on Island Records LP Bob Marley & The Wailers: Live! at the Lyceum, London, July 1975. Cover Photography By Dennis Morris. (1975).

This image was shot at the Lyceum Theatre in London, 1975, used on the cover of Live! (1975)- which was a live album release of Bob Marley and the Wailers two night engagement at the Lyceum (July 17-18th 1975). "No Woman, No Cry (Live '75)" was released as a single.

(From Dennis Morris taken from SF Art Exchange Website)..."That's one of my favorite live shots of him, because of the way his locks are flying and twirling," Morris says of this image, "It's like a helicopter blade. I love the beauty of that shot." Adds Morris, "He had this incredible ability to act out the songs when he performed. That's why, for instance, when he played in a place like Japan, no one could understand a word he was saying– but they understood his expressions." For me Dennis Morris caught Bob Marley in a state of ecstasy of Music, Religion, and Culture. Transcendent!

Dennis Morris is a Legend in Rock Photography. (Wikipedia) In 1974 Dennis Morris, then at school in London, heard that Bob Marley was playing at the Speakeasy Club in Great Marlborough Street, London. He went to the club during the day, met Marley and asked to take his picture. Marley agreed, and after hearing that Morris wanted to be a photographer Marley told him “You are a photographer”. The following day Morris left with the band in their Transit van. He went on to photograph the musician until Marley's death in 1981. After being approached by John Lydon personally, after their signing to Virgin Records, In May 1977 Morris spent a year with the Sex Pistols, documenting them in depth. In 1978 Morris went with Virgin boss Richard Branson on a talent-spotting trip to Jamaica. Morris persuaded Virgin that John Lydon should accompany them.
