“The Famous UFO Club Poster by Hapshash and the Coloured Coat (Michael English and Nigel Waymouth) London, 1967. This is an open edition screen print signed and stamped by Nigel Waymouth. This poster was used to advertise the original UFO club in Tottenham Court Road, London. The club was home to early shows by Pink Floyd and many others.

The 1960s heralded a golden age of poster design, in Britain this was pioneered by a group of artists including Michael English and Nigel Waymouth who formed Hapshash and the Coloured Coat to produce posters for the UFO Club in London. The resulting designs were startling and brought an explosive vitality to the fly posters on London streets. They used gold and silver inks, super bright colours, fluid typography, beautiful illustration and op-art graphics. Eye candy to match or enhance any psychedelic experience!
In addition to working as Hapshash and the Coloured Coat Nigel Waymouth was also the founder of the iconic counter culture boutique Granny Takes a Trip, designing its constantly changing shop-fronts and decor along with some of the clothes. This is a Victoria & Albert Museums Shop Nigel Waymouth signed reproduction sold in the shop for the exhibition “You Say You Want a Revolution? Records and Rebels 1966-1970”. (Taken from the Victoria & Albert Museum Website).”

This Poster is so graphically strong and the Gold is so striking. Its a living poster that grabs the viewer. Framed this would even be more exquisite! An original Poster, if you could find one, would be, £5K. This will surely appreciate in value in time!
